Our custom concrete mix includes a waterproofing additive integral. There are pros and cons to using integral admixtures, but we take the cautious approach when it comes to waterproofing our shells. An extra layer of spray foam insulation is inexpensive insurance for both the short and long term. (As an industry we know that concrete is not waterproof, and we certainly know that pool plaster is not waterproof.) All pipe penetrations are waterproofed, both the interior and exterior of the shell are waterproofed again, and all cold joints are engineered with appropriate waterproofing details.
