Coverings, the annual convention showcasing ceramic tile and natural stone from around the world, took place last month in Las Vegas. At the event, organizers recognized 25 projects for their design and use of the materials being celebrated. While many Coverings Installation & Design Awards went to interior applications, outdoor designs and installation held their own, and nearly one-third of the designs included swimming pools.
Honorees include architects, builders, contractors, designers, installers, and other professionals in the tile and stone industry.
Coverings is organized and sponsored by several organizations: Ceramics of Italy, Ceramic Tile Manufacturers Association of Spain/Tile of Spain, Tile Council of North American, National Tile Contractors Association, Ceramic Tile Distributors Association, and International Product Assurance Laboratories. It is managed by Taffy Event Strategies.
For the awards, projects were judged by a panel of editors and industry leaders who assessed the project submissions based on nine design and installation categorical designations: Artistic Installation, Commercial Ceramic Tile Design, Commercial Ceramic Tile Installation, Commercial Stone Design, Commercial Stone Installation, Residential Ceramic Tile Design, Residential Ceramic Tile Installation, Residential Stone Design and Residential Stone Installation.
Project entries receiving special recognition were awarded across 11 categories: Glass Tile Pool Design, Artistic Design, Artistic Design: Cultural Institution, Artistic Design: Transportation, Commercial Ceramic Tile Design, Commercial Ceramic Installation, Exterior Porcelain Panel Installation, International Design, Residential Ceramic Tile Design: Penthouse, Residential Stone Design and Residential Stone Installation.
