Water Pik Sells Canadian Business
Water Pik Technologies Inc. completed the sale of its Canadian pool accessories business last month. A new corporation formed by Canadian Buttons Ltd. and The Brantley Group Inc. purchased Olympic Pool Accessories for $1.9 million, with $1.5 million in cash at the closing and the balance due by June 2006. Olympic manufactures and distributes a line of pool and spa accessories, including cleaning and maintenance supplies, white goods, ladders and toys. Newport Beach, Calif.-based Water Pik makes pool and spa products under the Jandy brand name. On Jan. 6, the company announced an agreement to be purchased by Coast Acquisition Corp., a newly formed entity 80 percent owned by private equity firm The Carlyle Group and 20 percent owned by
Zodiac S.A. The Olympic sale will have no material impact on that pending acquisition.

“Anatomy of a Swimming Pool” is a one-day seminar to be presented April 26 and again April 27 by the Sacramento Valley Building Officials. Held in Sacramento, Calif., the sessions will be led by Rob Holmer, P.E., and John Taecker, P.E., and will include basic structural and geotechnical principles associated with swimming pools. There will also be an overview of plumbing, mechanical, electrical and pool barrier requirements for pools and spas. Preregistration is required, and lunch will be included. Aqua Products Named Vendor of the Year
Anthony & Sylvan Pool Corp. has awarded Aqua Products with its “2005 Vendor of the Year” honor. The annual award is given to the manufacturer or supplier considered the best overall in support, sales turnover, profitability, on-time delivery and quality products. “Aqua Products is proud and grateful to have earned this honor,” said Gerry Erlich, the company’s owner/president. Plastimayd Moves Headquarters
Plastimayd Corp., a manufacturer of inground vinyl pool liners and safety covers, has moved its corporate offices and West Coast manufacturing to Oregon City, Ore. The plant was previously located in Clackamas, Ore. The new address is 14151 Fir St., P.O. Box 2320, Oregon City, OR 97045.
Thermodynetics Nabs Large Order
Thermodynetics Inc., a manufacturing subsidiary of Turbotec Products Inc., has received a $1.6 million order for titanium coaxial heat exchangers. The order covers a 12- to 15-month period whereby Windsor, Conn.-based Thermodynetics will be the sole source of supply for a heat pump manufacturer. This is the second season that Turbotec’s products have been offered to the pool industry, and executives believe they have captured more than one-third of the market. “[This] is a testament to the new product’s acceptance,” said Robert Lerman, Turbotec’s managing director.
