“Lautner” Knife Edge: The French limestone coping (top) is set to create a 1-inch slot between it and the black absolute granite tile that angles down into the perimeter gutter. 316 marine grade stainless steel (bottom, left) is cantilevered over the perimeter gutter to support the limestone coping. Stainless steel is treated with Sikadur’s Sika 32 Hi-Mod to enable the setting materials and limestone to bond to it. An all-glass tile slot-overflow pool designed by Aquatic Consultants (bottom, right) and built by Aquaknot Pools in Weymouth, Mass., shows the drama and beauty created by a deck-level pool.
Angled Beam Vanishing Edge: This project (above), designed by Aquatic Consultants, features an angled beam detail. (See diagram.) Also designed by Aquatic Consultants, this project (below) combines both the radius-wall overflow with an elevated perimeter overflow detail. Additionally, the granite-finished exterior riser is canted in a reverse pyramidal detail, allowing the water to cline to it into the slot overflow.
Underwater Coping Perimeter Overflow: An all-tile project also designed by Brian Van Bower includes the underwater coping detail with the patio material on the angled section underwater.
