The next revision of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code has begun with the solicitation of Change Requests.
The ISPSC results from a collaboration between the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance and the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. It contains minimum regulations for public and residential pools, spas and hot tubs, as well as waterparks. According to PHTA, the code meets or exceeds the Virginia Graeme Baker Act, including the language for APSP-7 Standard for Suction Entrapment Avoidance. It also establishes parameters and requirements for diving spaces, barriers, general design, water quality, and all categories of pool and spa equipment. Updated every three years, the ISPSC applies only to those jurisdictions that adopt it.
Those who would like to see specific changes made for the 2030 ISPSC have until November 1, 2026 to submit proposals.
The code is coordinated by the PHTA Code Action Committee. More information and submission forms can be found on PHTA’s ISPSP page. http://phta.org/standards-codes/codes/international-swimming-pool-and-spa-code/
