The International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, co-located with Deck Expo is now taking submissions for its fifth annual Million Dollar Pool Design Challenge.
Applicants are given a fictitious customer profile, which includes their aesthetic preferences and what kinds of features they want. Additionally a site is provided. This year’s is set on the Intracoastal Waterway in the Miami Beach area. Designers are given a budget of at least $1 million to create the pool of the fictional clients’ dreams.
Five finalists will be chosen to receive a trip to the PSP/Deck Expo in Las Vegas, where they will present their designs. One of these finalists is guaranteed to be a young professional aged 29 or younger at the time of submission. Attendees at the session vote for a grand-prize winner.
In addition to the trip, the grand-prize winner will receive $10,000. Second place is awarded $3,000; third $1,250; fourth $750 and fifth $500.
The contest is coordinated between PSP/Deck Expo organizer Informa and pools designers Reid Schindler and Mike Farley. To apply, go to themilliondollarpoolchallenge.com. The deadline is Sept. 21.
The PSP/Deck Expo takes place Nov. 13–15 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, with pre-show education beginning Nov. 10.
