The waterfalls were constructed on top of steel and fiber-reinforced concrete slabs, which were poured in place directly on top of the protected EPDM. This technique (which added to our material cost) provides significant long-term liner protection, and enabled the crew to wrestle large stones into place without worry about liner damage.
David Duensing is the designer and principal of David B. Duensing & Associates Inc. and president of Aquatic Construction Services, LLC. He designs, builds and consults on commercial and residential waterfeatures of all sizes throughout North, Central and South America, the Caribbean and abroad. His projects range from indoor and outdoor water gardens, waterfalls, streams and multi-acre ponds to lakes, large aquariums and medical research facilities. Since founding his company in 1989, his efforts and talents are seen in hundreds of locations for clients such as the National Wildlife Federation, Del Webb, Pulte Homes and numerous private estates, commercial properties and zoos.
