Interactive: Which Waterfeature Is It?

Think you have an ear for water? Pair these sounds with the waterfeatures making them.

Water is a musical instrument. The way it can spill, bubble, gurgle, dribble down walls and across stones and fall in great cascades is something that can be harnessed to create a tranquil soundscape in any backyard.

And like any instrument, water can be manipulated to produce high and low notes, a rumbling bass or a trickling treble — and tones in between.

To demonstrate water’s acoustic qualities, we created an interactive game. The rules are simple: Pair six waterfeatures with the sounds that they make. Hint: Pay attention to how much volume of water is in the photos, how it arcs, spills or falls and the type of basin it spills into.
