Bridge construction
The bridge then was waterproofed and veneered on the top and sides with Arizona flagstone.
The bridge’s underside was coated with a synthetic stucco material rather than the 2-inch-thick stone, both to provide more head room and for safety in case the stone ever failed.
This left 18 inches of space between the water’s surface and the lowest part of the bridge.
