Continuing its bid to reassume a major presence in California, the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals has launched a chapter in the San Diego area.
The group is drawing from at least 30 existing APSP members in the area and has met twice so far. Organizers hope the chapter will draw new members to the national organization.
In addition to providing educational talks and networking opportunities at the meetings, the group plans to address issues such as the considerable underground economy in the area, in part by enforcing licensing requirements to join.
“Our [focus] is professionalism, education and best practices,” said Chapter President Javier Payan, also of El Cajon-based Payan Pool Service. “By banding together under the brand and reputation of the APSP, we’re more effective.”
