Attendees took advantage of educational seminars at the PSP Expo

Thousands of industry professionals traveled to Las Vegas for the 2015 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, held Nov. 10-12 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The Expo gave attendees an opportunity to explore 140,000 square feet of floor space occupied by 525 exhibiting companies that appeared at the event, including 118 new exhibitors. They all gathered to showcase new products for the pool and spa market, ranging from pool cleaners and floats to backyard grills and lounge chairs.
The show experienced several statistical increases. The Commercial Pavilion included 18 exhibitors in 2,100 square feet of space, an increase over last year. The new Casual Furniture Marketplace housed 13 exhibitors in 4,300 square feet. A whopping 27 percent of registered attendees were new to the Expo this year.
The high attendance coupled with a rebounding economy set the tone for an event hailed as one of the best PSP Expos ever. “We loved being able to meet hundreds of our members ... and make some new friends,” said Noah Nehlich, founder of Structure Studios in Las Vegas.
While trade show activity traditionally slows down after the first day, exhibitors revealed high traffic numbers during the latter half of the Expo. “Wednesday was a busy day for us,” Nehlich said. “Our booth was packed for most of the day.”
The event also offered plenty of educational opportunities via the conference portion of the Expo, held Nov. 7-12. More than 60 classes were offered by a number of professionals and organizations, including Genesis, NSPF, NPC, and ASA.
Expo attendees and exhibitors were able to reconnect with colleagues during the Welcome Party at LIGHT Nightclub inside Mandalay Bay. Party-goes took a brief recess from the festivities to acknowledge Presidential Pools, Spas and Patio (a Pool & Spa News Top Builder), which was named “Fan Favorite” in the APSP International Awards of Excellence.
Other evening activities included the BBQ Bash, where guests were treated to tasty dishes from the grill, and the 16th Annual Genesis Family Reunion & Winemaking Dinner at the Las Vegas Country Club. This event gave guests an opportunity to enjoy wines from Deovlet Winery of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and food prepared by chef Michael Van Staden.
The final day of the Expo ended with the presentation of the 2015 PSP Expo’s New Product Showcase winners:
In the New Products category, first prize was awarded to ConnectedYard for its pHin water-quality monitor, while second place went to H2flow Controls for the FlowVis-L flow meter. King Technology took home third place for the @ease Floating Sanitizing System.
In the Green category, AquaStar Pool Products garnered first place for its FlowStar Standard Skimmer with Ozone. Kona Labs received second for its LevelSmart Wireless Auto-fill System, and CG Air Systemes Inc. won third for its Vibro.Sonic System.
Because of the Expo’s success, show officials said, several companies signed up for the 2016 event before this year’s even came to a close. “This was the first year that the sales team accepted exhibitor contracts at the show for next year’s show,” said Katie Moon, PSP Expo marketing manager. “The readiness and willingness of exhibitors to commit ... far exceeded our expectations!”
The 2016 International Pool, Spa & Patio Expo is scheduled to take place Nov. 2-4 at the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center in New Orleans.
