"Your diamonds are not in far distant mountains or in yonder seas; they are in your own backyard, if you but dig for them." -- Russell H. Conwell, author

That saying can certainly apply to the American backyard. There is, after all, no need to travel to some exotic locale when everything you need to relax and de-stress from modern life is right here in the backyard. The pool’s shimmering invitation to come on in is irresistible; the chaise lounge and hammock encourage folks to rest for a spell; and the barbecue grill practically begs to cook up something delicious.

No wonder people are getting into backyard living more and more.

For pool and spa professionals who want to assist them in attaining that lifestyle, the way is clear. On Nov. 10-12, the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo returns to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Two pavilions boasting merchandise of particular interest to backyard living enthusiasts will be the Outdoor Living Pavilion and the brand-new Casual Furniture Marketplace. Booths within these pavilions will offer myriad products to help homeowners turn any backyard into an outdoor retreat.

Expo organizers offer these pavilions with industry professionals’ bottom lines in mind. “It is our goal to see the entire pool, spa and outdoor living industry grow and succeed,” says show director Tracy Garcia, CEM, with Informa Exhibitions U.S. of Irving, Texas. To that end, organizers have been expanding the pavilion aspect of the Expo each year.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the backyard-oriented pavilions.

Outdoor Living Pavilion

Last year, it was called the Backyard Living Pavilion. Regardless of what you call it, this is the biggest pavilion, due in large part to increased exhibitor interest. This space sports a variety of products, from barbecue grills and waterfeatures to outdoor billiard tables, pool equipment, fencing and more.

“This segment is the fastest-growing in the industry,” Garcia notes, “so our team has been able to get ahead of the curve and secure some of the top names in this expanding market.”

This pavilion is a newcomer, and several factors came into play for that to happen. “It came about because 25 percent of our attendees expressed interest in this segment, so we felt this was a great way to meet the needs and interest of this industry segment,” Garcia explains. In addition, she says the team monitored industry growth trends and determined that this, too, is a very fast-growing segment.

Approximately 50 percent of these exhibitors are new to the Expo. As expected, outdoor furniture dominates, but the exhibitor list also includes makers of related outdoor products.

Speaking of exhibitor lists, they are growing daily. Below are the exhibitors (with their booth numbers) who were signed up at press time; the lists are expected to expand the closer we get to the 2015 PSP Expo. For more info, visit the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo website. .
