The Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention recently became a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
The group was formed nearly two years ago by the Construction Financial Management Association. It seeks to combat the alarming suicide rate in the building trades by disseminating information and resources and promoting mental-health services in construction.
In September, it held its first strategic planning session. Nearly 30 representatives from 17 Alliance members gathered in Washington, D.C. to shape the framework of the organization.
“The action-oriented outcome and collaboration among all who were present at the strategic planning meeting clearly demonstrated the construction industry’s ability to come together to create great things,” said Chairman Michelle Walker.
