Las Vegas pool builder Joseph M. Vassallo has another new role. The president of Paragon Pools has joined the Academy of Engineering Advisory Committee at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy, a magnet public high school. Recently he judged the region’s Future City competition, in which middle-school students designed a futuristic city using a 3-D computer program. Judging criteria included 50 elements. “I was very impressed with the students’ work,” Vassallo said. “I look forward to participating in more activities … specifically, the internship program.” He encourages his peers to find ways to support STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math). “The future of our industry would greatly benefit from the talents of these youths.”
