Materials are harder near the house, softer in back. Steppingstones by the house are rectangular, while those used in the back, leading to areas taken up mostly by plants, are more irregular.
Steel is used throughout for unity, on the waterfeature and in sheets that sandwich the stone choice to form planter walls. The stone, Napa basalt, also accents the waterfeature and is used as steppingstones.
