For quite some time, we’ve reported on the growing importance homeowners are placing on outdoor living amenities. In fact, the latest Home Design Trends Survey by the American Institute of Architects revealed that outdoor living and blended indoor/outdoor spaces tops the list for the most-desired home features, with 72 percent of firms reporting increased activity for outdoor living and 58 percent for blended spaces.
The industry has already seen ample evidence of this explosive trend. Pool builders are called on to design outdoor kitchens and pleasing water features more often than ever before. In addition, homeowners’ desire for cohesive, well-designed backyard spaces has increased the need for pool designers to work together with other building professionals, such as remodelers, deck builders and landscape architects.
