California Code of Regulations Title 22, which covers the operation of commercial pools, is being revised, with the first completed draft now available for public comment. Local health officials are playing a larger role in this draft, rather than state officials, said Michael Orr, executive director of the Foundation for Pool & Spa Industry Education, who has been involved with the code’s progress. “These people offer really good input from actually enforcing these things out in the field,” he said. Comments are due by Oct. 21. The proposed text is at http://www.cdph.ca.gov/services/DPOPP/regs/Pages/DPH-03-017APublicPools.aspx. To post a comment, click on “Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.”
