A house bill in Arizona that would have repealed the state's pool pump energy standards law died when the legislature adjourned June 14.
House Bill 2334 by Rep. Montenegro was introduced earlier this year to repeal Title 44, marking the second time legislation was introduced to repeal the law. However, HB 2334 did not have enough support to be voted on by the full house.
The law requires pool owners be given a choice when selecting a replacement pump of either a single-speed pump or a multi-speed pump that offers increased energy efficiency.
The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals spearheaded the effort and fought to uphold the energy efficient standards in Arizona.
APSP Arizona members made calls, sent emails and testified in committee in support of energy efficiency measures for pools and spas, as provided in our American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/APSP energy efficiency standards, said Jennifer Hatfield, APSP Director of Government Relations. Once again we've leveraged our grassroots in Arizona and they've answered the call to protect consumers and ensure positive experiences with our industry's products.
