David Nicholas has joined Bentonville, Ark.-based specialty chemicals manufacturer Earth Science Laboratories as chief executive officer.
Nicholas, a Registered Professional Engineer, began his career at The Dow Chemical Company, where he completed a variety of assignments in research and development, engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing and business management. Following his work at Dow, Nicholas worked in venture capital and led the growth of several technology driven companies including Air Quality Sciences, Purafil, and most recently VRTX Technologies, a water treatment company.
In 2003, the U.S. Commerce Secretary appointed Nicholas to serve as an adviser in the area of environmental technology export issues. Most recently he met with President Barack Obama to discuss the barriers small companies face in expanding their export businesses.
