Association of Pool & Spa Professionals veteran Carvin DiGiovanni has been honored by the International Swimming Hall of Fame (ISHOF).

The APSP vice president of technical and standards is the recipient of the 2019 Paragon Award, presented to individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to aquatics. He is being awarded in the recreational swimming category.

“I am truly honored to receive this award and to be recognized alongside such a remarkable group of passionate industry leaders,” DiGiovanni said. “Through hard work and collaboration, it’s amazing what can be achieved. As we approach the industry’s next chapter, it’s most gratifying to know its future is advancing on a solid foundation.”

DiGiovanni will receive his award at ISHOF's Honoree Induction May 17.

In his nearly 30 years with APSP, DiGiovanni has played a role in facilitating most or all of the association's standards and had a hand in model pool/spa codes written by such partners as the International Code Council. In doing so, he has worked with experts in the industry -- including manufacturers, academics, government officials, builders, service professionals and retailers – to facilitate the development of standards language and ensure their accreditation with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Since he announced last fall that he would become a part-time staffer, DiGiovanni has received multiple recognitions. He received the World Waterpark Association’s Al Turner Commitment to Excellence Award, and was honored by the ICC’s PMG Council. In 2014, he received the ICC’s Affiliate Award.
