In a move to strengthen its position in Canada and Europe, Hay-ward Industries has acquired Summit Pool Heaters, a heat pump manufacturer based in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
“We believe that heat pumps, for the long term, are a very good bet,” said Bruce Fisher, Hayward’s vice president of sales and marketing.
Though Hayward already makes heat pumps, the purchase of Summit opens up the potential to expand in new markets. The Elizabeth, N.J., company plans to merge Summit’s product line into its sales and marketing arm by early 2009.
This acquisition comes as part of a long line of expansion for Hayward, which created similar partnerships with Goldline Controls in 2004 and AquaVac in 2006.
