The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals has promoted Silvia Uribe to the position of Director of Education.

Uribe joined the organization last year as senior manager, global training and education. Before her time with APSP, she worked at the National Swimming Pool Foundation, where she also oversaw international training. Joining her in the move to APSP was fellow NSPF staffer Alex Antoniou. They were brought on board as part of a $1.3 million investment in education and training initiatives.

“We are delighted that Silvia will be leading APSP’s education,” said APSP President/CEO Lawrence Caniglia. “Over the past year, she has done a great job strengthening our educational offerings and expanding our lineup. Silvia is a passionate leader who consistently develops new strategies that exceed expectations while growing our programs.”

Uribe has 25 years of experience in training development and teaching in multicultural and multilingual environments. Her background also includes serving as a professor at a private academy and in a state university, as well as a certified interpreter and translator in the Arizona and Colorado court systems.

Last year, to help with its educational initiatives, APSP also signed on with PSN parent company Hanley Wood to deliver its certification courses online. The organization also has begun developing blended in-person and online courses.
