Tara Manufacturing, maker of inground vinyl pool liners and pool safety covers, recently opened a new plant that doubles its production and inventory capabilities. The 60,000-square-foot, $3.3 million facility in Owens Cross Roads, Ala. is largely meant to accommodate increased production of safety covers. It also will house a new research and development department charged with continuing to innovate its measuring technologies and tools, as well as develop new products to provide shade in the backyard.
Though 18 months in the making, the timing proved fortuitous, said Tara CPO Larry Furlough. “Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for outdoor products has been unprecedented,” he said.
Built for energy efficiency, the building uses up to 50% less energy than the company’s existing plant. Tara, already the largest employer in the Owens Cross Roads and New Hope area, plans to add at least 12 new manufacturing jobs with the expansion.
