The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance has officially begun recruiting a permanent president/CEO.

The PHTA formed earlier this year through the merger of the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals and the National Swimming Pool Foundation. It officially began operations April 1, with an interim CEO in place.

The recruiting firm Diversified Search has opened the position for applications. The association expects to hire and have a CEO in place by fall.

The job description does not indicate a preference between individuals with a strong association-management background versus pool/spa and/or aquatics-industry experience. However it does require a proven track record and/or ability for growing and diversifying funding streams, among other skills. It also lists a good understanding of nonprofit governance, requirements and management, and states that a bachelor’s degree is required, with business administration, finance or management the preferred majors.

In the meantime, PHTA is developing ways to provide information about the new association, such as a dedicated informational website. It also has created an educational task force to begin analyzing the educational programs offered by APSP and NSPF to organize their delivery.
