Riverbend Sandler Pools, a Dallas-area aggregator serving the pool construction and service markets, has officially branched out into the Houston area.
The company, which has made clear its intent to remain in Texas for now, has acquired Backyard Paradise Luxury Pools, a pool construction and service firm based in Montgomery, Texas, and serving the northern and western regions of the Houston metroplex.
Former owner Mitchell Buckley will remain to manage Backyard Paradise, and will retain an ownership stake. All current employees are expected to keep their current positions, and the operation will continue to be marked under the Backyard Paradise brand in its current markets.
Riverbend Sandler began last year, when Chicago-based Concentric Equity Partners recapitalized three Dallas-area builders: Riverbend Sandler Pools of Plano; Pulliam Pool Builders and Pulliam Services of Fort Worth; and Claffey Pools of Southlake. Last summer, it acquired its first service company: Crystal Clear Custom Pools of Midlothian, Texas. It has also purchased a few small companies with relatively few routes, said the company’s CEO, Bruce Mungiguerra.
Riverbend will now focus on its expansion in this new region.“This is our first [company] outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and now we’re beginning our search in Houston,” Mungiguerra said. “If all goes well, we should complete two more transactions in Houston by January.”
Backyard Paradise derives most of its revenue from construction and cleans approximately 200 pools per week. Riverbend plans to expand the Houston location’s reach in service.
As for the companies currently being vetted for potential acquisition, one is a builder, the other a service firm.
