Pentair has signed on to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Challenge. The initiative was created in 2013 to expand the number of workplace charging stations available for Americans who drive electric vehicles. It’s part of an overall plan by the Obama administration to make plug-in electric vehicles as convenient and affordable as possible. The Workplace Charging Challenge aims to increase the number of U.S. employers offering workplace electric vehicle charging tenfold by 2018.
Currently, Pentair offers two such stations, which can charge up to four vehicles at a time, at its Sanford, N.C., headquarters. Pentair’s pledge to join the challenge is part of an ongoing effort by the company to reduce its environmental impact.
