Attendees of this year’s National Plasterers Council conference took in their educatioin with a side of pre-Mardi Gras festivities.
Held in New Orleans Feb. 8-10, the eventA tight-knit organization plus a popular venue equaled high attendance at this year’s National Plasterers Council annual conference.
At 425 attendees, more than 80 percent of the organization’s membership gathered at the event, held early February in New Orleans. “That was a remarkable number,” said NPC Executive Director Jeff Henderson.

Long-time NPC auctioneer Jay Eaton, president of Phoenix-based Cal Plastering, will take the virtual gavel for next year's online conference.
Once again, education covered a range of topics, from plastering staples such as the start-up certification course, to legal and business subjects. Genesis -sponsored construction classes covered shotcrete and gunite issues and fluid engineering.
“A lot of folks commented about the quality of education, even to the point of complaining that they couldn’t go to two classes at the same time,” Henderson said.
For the first time, the organization heard a state of the market/industry outlook address from Donna Williams, chief marketing officer for distributor PoolCorp.
Each day, the organization holds auctions during lunch to raise funds. This marked the last year that long-time auctioneer Jay Eaton, president of Cal Plastering in Phoenix, holds that post.
Next year’s conference will take place Feb. 7-9 in San Diego.
