IPSSA Achievements: A Timeline

These highlights show how the association has evolved over the past three decades.

IPSSA

1961

Independent Pool Service Association (IPSA) is formed.

1981

Independent Pool Service Association (IPSA) in Southern California splits into two factions: IPSA and Cal-IPSA.

1986

The presidents of IPSA and Cal-IPSA start to talk about how they would be better served together than separately.

1988

IPSA and Cal-IPSA merge, forming the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA), as it’s known today.

1993

IPSSA commits to maintaining non-profit status.

1994

The Texas Region is formed.

2000

Ray Arouesty wins the Doug Tanner Award and uses it to start the IPSSA Scholarship Fund.

2008

IPSSA expands to Florida.

2010

IPSSA reaches into Georgia and Oklahoma.

2016

IPSSA goes national, making available membership to affiliate members across the country.

2017

IPSSA Disaster Relief Foundation is founded.
