Chris Myers, of McAllen, Texas building firm Eden Swimming Pools, passed away suddenly on June 19. He was 55.
Myers came into the industry with a degree in business from Texas Tech University. He founded Eden in 2007, originally running the business out of his home. The company eventually became one of the largest pool contractors in Texas' Rio Grande Valley, just north of the U.S./Mexico border.
"Chris was a brilliant business man, a great friend and an even greater Father," the company said on its website. "Chris founded Eden Pools with the idea that a pool company can build beautiful swimming pools and serve its community. Chris had a big heart."
Said his family in a tribute: "He had a passion for producing high-quality, affordable swimming pools and outdoor living spaces."
He is survived by his son Gabriel, daughters Zoe and Lexi, his stepmother, five sisters, a brother, and an aunt.
"Chris left this world much too soon for his children, his Eden family and his McAllen community," his family said.
As a cancer survivor, Myers donated to many charities dedicated to helping cancer patients or those who lost somebody to the disease. Those wishing to honor Chris Myers can make contributions to the American Cancer Society, the Colon Cancer Alliance or similar charities.
