The U.S. Department of Labor reissued 17 wage and hour opinion letters. The Obama administration had rescinded the documents, which offer opinions on specific human resource situations.
While not law, the letters had been issued under President George W. Bush to offer answers and guidance on specific scenarios regarding compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other wage/hour issues. Many of the letters pertain to specific industries, which include residential construction and plumbing. Others are more general-interest, including a letter addressing qualifications for exempt status.
