CA Industry Gains Glimmer of Hope on Gas Front

Industry officials believe they’ve opened the door to discuss proposed changes that would eventually outlaw gas pool heaters in the Golden State, in efforts to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2031.

Recently, the California Air Resources Board met with industry representatives — the California Pool & Spa Association, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance, and a handful of pool-heater manufacturers. Pool/spa professionals were able to explain the impact to consumers of banning pool heaters. While CARB officials made no promises to change course, they have scheduled another meeting with industry officials to learn more.
