The Water is My Sky

In anticipation of each Summer Olympics, a dramatic transformation takes place in the U.S.

For the fourth year in a row, the 18,000-seat CHI Health Center, a basketball arena, will be transformed into an Olympic-caliber aquatics venue. This Omaha facility will become the site for Americans to compete for a spot in the 202 Olympics in Tokyo.

Aquatics design and consulting firm Counsilman-Hunsaker is collaborating with USA Swimming and manufacturers Myrtha Pools USA, and Neptune Benson to create the venue. Counsilman-Hunsaker, Myrtha and USA Swimming collaborated on the design, while Myrtha will manufacture and install the temporary main competition and training pools.

This transformation is expected to take place in 13 days. The ten-lane competition pool will be built on the arena floor, with rim flow gutter and a depth of approximately 8-1/2 feet.
