At its annual meeting, United Aqua Group announced that 2015 was a record profit year for the 230-member group, breaking the pinnacle reached in 2014.
“Here we are a 53-year-old brand, and we’re having two record years right on top of each other,” said CEO Patrick Walls. “I think the best years are still ahead of us.”
Other highlights of the event, Feb. 22- 26 in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., included a talk by retired Major League Baseball pitcher Jim Abbott, famous for playing 10 seasons despite having one hand and for pitching a no-hitter.
UAG presented design awards to Sunbelt Pools, Dallas; Hollywood Pool & Spa of Birmingham, Ala.; Platinum Pools of Wheeling, Ill.; Goodall Pools & Spas of Camp Hill, Pa.; Baker Pools of Tulsa, Okla.; Green Scene Landscaping & Swimming Pools of Northridge, Calif.; and Presidential Pools, Spas & Patio of Gilbert, Ariz.
This marked the first annual meeting attended by Walls, who joined UAG last November. “I thought it was fantastic,” he said. “Obviously, I went in not having a lot of expectations as to what the meeting would be like. To me, it was kind of like a family reunion, where all of our members and our vendor partners and our team at UAG get together for networking and education and to share best practices.”
