America’s Swimming Pool Co. has expanded into California, and is in the software game.
The service industry’s largest franchiser, with 205 units, now has two locations in the Golden State after converting an independent operator, All Pure Pools, serving North Los Angeles County and Central California.
Adopting the franchise model is part of the 25-year-old firm’s succession plan, said ASP CEO Stewart Vernon, based in Macon, Ga. All Pure’s founder is transitioning the business to his son, who sought another scheduling and accounting software. As it happens, ASP is equipping all franchised units with a new proprietary operating system. It is developing its own program after being less than satisfied with existing offerings.
“Most programs that we dealt with ... were just for pool cleaners, and we really wanted something that encompassed repair and renovations, as well,” Vernon said.
Called PoolOps, the system is helping ASP locations become more efficient. The cloud-based platform allows managers to collect and analyze data to make adjustments as needed.
PoolOps won’t be exclusive much longer. The program soon will be available to the public, he said.
