For this edition of Taylor’s Tunes, I’m stepping off my musical soapbox and passing the baton to Bryan Chrissan, owner of Clear Valley Pool and Spa Service & Repair in Temecula, Calif.
If you would like to set the soundtrack for a future issue of Pool & Spa News Insider, drop me a note at etaylor@hanleywood.com .
Here’s Bryan’s playlist:
“I am an ’80s music fanatic starting with MTV’s debut almost 31 years ago. Quick trivia: the first song ever played on MTV? “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles.
I remember how it felt to SEE your favorite group, band or singer on TV! You bought the album, watched the video and then played the cassette tape on your Walkman.
My top songs from the ’80s are what was then referred to affectionately as “Rock Ballads.” I like to call these “Red Light” songs. No, not that red light. I’m talking about the in-your-car-singing-out-loud-at-the-top-of-your-lungs red light songs. Then you look over and realize that someone is staring at you and both your business name and phone numbers are plastered on the side of your pool truck.
The truth is, I’m a sucker for big hair bands and their ballads. I had a hard time picking out a top 10; and, in the end, my favorite band (Genesis) did not even make the list. But here, in no particular order, is Chrissan’s Classics.”
