Exotic getaway: This is a truly international endeavor — a pool set in Spain, owned by Russian clients who travel there and to Bali. The clients decided they wanted two pools. One would sit next to the home to integrate with its classic Spanish style. The other would be placed farther away, to create a miniature Balinese getaway. Designer Marcos Gisbert Perez set the Bali pool at a lower elevation to give it a more pronounced sense of separation from the main pool. A wooden hut is elevated about 1 meter, with a teak bridge easing access between it and the pool. For absolute authenticity, Perez traveled to Bali to select the materials and ship them to Spain.
Unique touch: Teak decks and palm trees help blend the two styles. Here, the designer used contrasting colors in an unusual shower treatment, with black river rocks covering up the drain. Similar forms, with black stones set into wood decking, are used elsewhere.
