Early this morning, my 3-year-old, Aidan, smiled and said, “You’re a secret superhero, mommy.” I grinned back and replied, “So are you. Now let’s go start our day!”
While I have no idea what prompted the comment, it made me reflect that I sometimes do feel like a secret superhero. It’s tough juggling the duties of a working mom and I often find myself wishing for more hours in the day to get everything done.
Case in point: I’ve been processing the entries for the Top 50 Builders program bit by bit all week, squeezing in a couple whenever I have a few minutes, concentrating on the figures from each entry and making sure that they make sense. Some of you may have heard from me already, asking for clarification. A few have expressed disappointment that while their figures were higher than the previous year, they still weren’t as high as they’d hoped.
Yes, we’re still in the middle of a recession, but that’s not what these numbers tell me. Instead, each dollar represents hundreds of hard-working people, all striving towards building successful businesses and fulfilling lives.
We’re all secret superheroes.
