Bicknell was an independent pool/spa products distributorship with nine warehouses in New England, New York, Ohio and Virginia. Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Hopkinton, Mass., it was acquired in the 1990s, first by Pacific Pools parent Cookson Ltd., and then by South Central Pools, now known as PoolCorp.
Last month, 63 former staffers of the company, and their family members, joined together at a gathering arranged by former CEO John Hulme and sales associate Maryanne Van Aken and held in Framingham, Mass. Many continue to work in the pool industry, including at PoolCorp.
"We were blessed with an exceptional, well-motivated, bright bunch of wonderful people that it was my pleasure to work with for 34 years," said company founder Richard Bicknell.
