Sutro Connect, maker of IoT water-monitoring devices, will work with testing products maker LaMotte.
The Chestertown, Md.-based LaMotte will supply its reagents to power the Sutro Smart Monitor cartridge. In exchange, San Francisco-based Sutro will allow LaMotte access to its Internet of Things (IoT) platform.
Both companies believe that reagent-based spectroscopy provides the most accurate and reliable way to keep water safe, the companies said in a press release.
"It's great to see Sutro Connect embrace what we have known for the past 100 years," said Richard LaMotte, vice president of the company that bears his name. "Reliable water testing starts with picking the most consistent and accurate testing methods. Reagent-based spectroscopy is what we use to measure drinking water, it's what you use to measure your pool chemistry, and it is a tried-and-true way to confirm the safety of your water for the last 100 years."
The Sutro Smart Monitor continuously measures various water parameters and alerst the homeowner via an app when something needs to be addressed.
