John Norwood, president and chief lobbyist for the California Pool and Spa Association, was named one of the Top 100 most influential people in California’s state capitol, Sacramento. The honor was given by Capitol Weekly, a media outlet covering politics in the Golden State. Norwood was recognized for his years as a veteran lobbyist working for a wide range of industries, including insurance, financial services, entertainment, healthcare and, most recently, the pool and spa industry. He has led the California industry’s battle against disproportionate water regulation in response to the drought, as well as negative and inaccurate perceptions about the amount of water used by pools. In its tribute to Norwood, Capitol Weekly said, “If John can protect the swimming pool industry deep into a four-year drought, then he’s a magician. So far, for the most part, he’s a magician.”
