Marking its 50th anniversary, Cincinnati-based home recreational products retailer Watson’s is preparing to roll out a newly renovated flagship showroom, along with such branding updates as a new website and modified logo.
The regional retailer is putting the finishing touches on a renovation that will double the size of its Evendale, Ohio location. Now clocking in at 100,000 square feet, the showroom will include hot tubs, aboveground pools, outdoor furniture and home recreational products.
The move also marks an expansion in the firm’s indoor furniture and home-entertainment offerings. The Evendale location will house seven departments: hot tubs, including Hot Spring, Bullfrog, Viking and Endless Spas brands; aboveground pools and assorted pool chemicals, supplies and toys; outdoor living; indoor furniture; home recreation and dining; fireplaces; and home theater.
It also will include a section called Markdown Marketplace, which will feature value-priced items. The Style Aisle will include one-of-a-kind products from all over the world.
“We really feel like this is the furniture shopping experience of the future,” said CEO Erik Mueller in a press release.
The updated store, which remained open during renovation, is set to celebrate its grand opening the first weekend in June.
The company will follow up with a new website and updated logo.
In addition to its staff, culture, and evolving product selection, Watson’s credits its guarantee to offer the lowest price in the country for its success. The company reports that its average customer returns to shop at its stores for seven to 10 major purchases after the original.
The retail company was founded in 1968 by Bill Watson and is on its third owner. Long-time employees Jim Kathmann and Don Oeters purchased the firm in 1984. Mueller, who is Kathmann’s son, bought it in 2007.
It now has eight showrooms and 11 accessory outlets in the Midwest.
