Last month, PSN Top 50 Builder, Van Kirk & Sons Pools & Spas, created a buzz when the Florida firm completed a swimming pool for a victim of paralysis.

Now, the company again is setting a good example for the swimming pool industry with the help of rapper turned DIY Network renovation show host Vanilla Ice, who formally goes by Rob Van Winkle. Together, they built a pool for six-year-old Owen Johnson, who sustained a spinal injury when his family's van was hit by a drunk driver, according to WESH.

On April 10, Van Kirk and Vanilla Ice were on hand to watch Johnson use his new pool for the first time. Swimming now will be incorporated into Johnson's physical therapy routine more easily, his mother, Susannah Johnson, told the news agency.

"Because he has a (tracheotomy) most people don't let them in their pools. So, it's our pool now. We get to decide. He's gonna go in. He's going in as much as he can and we'll bring the therapists out and let them do their therapy right here," she said in a report from WESH.
