When things are going well in the pool and spa market, lots of people are happy. So happy, in fact, that they sometimes make dramatic upgrades to their retail stores to reflect the growth of the industry, and hopefully increase sales.

Dennis Marunde, president of Crystal Lake, Ill.-based Arvidson Pools & Spas, has spent the better part of the year renovating the showrooms in all three of his retail locations. “Every one of them is getting updated and upgraded in some way,” says Marunde. The upgrades range from renovated exterior signage and added square footage to new LED interior-lighting concepts, fresh paint and new flooring.

Maurande chose to make the changes this year due to two very important factors: growth in the hot tub industry and a schedule that finally allowed him to dedicate time to the projects. “The other items on my list have been completed, and the [renovations] were just [waiting] to be done,” he said.

The improvement projects have been ongoing throughout the year, but Marunde anticipates that everything will be wrapped up by February 2017.

The results, one can surmise, will be happier customers who are more inclined to spend their hard-earned money in a larger, brighter, store.
