The Northeast Spa and Pool Association hopes to see changes to New York’s residential building code, especially regarding pool and spa safety, in the next round of updates. Specifically, the organization advocates altering language that requires a safety vacuum release systems (SVRS) on all pools. The local industry would like to align with the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, so SVRSs are only needed in the absence of dual main drains or other anti-entrapment protections.
