
The Jacksonville Jaguars have two swim spas on the party deck at EverBank Field. The Arizona Diamondbacks have their famous pool at Chase Field. And now, a Class AA affiliate of a major league baseball club is aiming for the fences with what could be the largest pool in pro sports.
Once complete, the Frisco RoughRiders, the affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will have a lazy river just beyond the right field fence at Dr Pepper Ballpark. It will be so big that it could easily hold 1.2 million baseballs, says The Dallas Morning News.
Construction on the $1.5 million, 3,000-square-foot lazy river began in February. Shaped like a flattened figure eight and featuring 113 linear feet of waterfalls fronting the ball field, twin water curtains standing at attention at the back of the enclosed area will feature 18-foot-tall cascading sheets of water lit with color.
The new lazy river replaces a smaller pool that was available for rent during games. The owners are proud of the project's size and are boasting how much larger it is than other facilities in pro sports.
