Two European pool shows are returning this fall. Both biennial events, the first in Spain and the other in Germany, have fully incorporated wellness themes and report growth in their respective markets. Here’s a peek at this year’s top two international pool shows and what they have in store for attendees.

Piscina & Wellness Barcelona

Oct. 17-20, 2017

Barcelona, Spain

Two years ago, show organizers added the word “wellness” to this event’s name to better reflect the growing demand for water-related facilities and uses associated with health, well-being and leisure. This year’s event promises to be larger than ever, with more than 310 exhibitors from 25 countries, an increase of 11% from its 2015 iteration.

To facilitate further growth of the country’s pool market, show organizers have added more activities, experiential spaces and meetings to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge between manufacturers and trade professionals. This includes new demonstration areas, a zone for showcasing new products, a fully operational Wellness Centre, and business meetings with international buyers, as well as other activities.

In addition, the show will host a number of congresses, conferences and seminars, with presentations of market research, case studies, and the latest trends in the wellness industry. Notably, the III Aquatic Leisure Symposium will address safety regulations and the efficient and sustainable management of recreational aquatics facilities, as well as the new trends in aquatic-related leisure and the importance of the customer experience. The Piscina & Wellness Barcelona Awards will honor the most innovative and sustainable products in the sector comprising swimming pools, wellness centers and aquatics facilities.

Aquanale

Cologne, Germany

More than 26,000 attendees from over 119 countries descended on Cologne, Germany two years ago to attend the trade fair duo Aquanale, the “International Trade Fair for Sauna, Pool and Ambience” and FSB, which covers amenity areas, sports and pool facilities.

This year’s three-day expo is on track to draw more than 28,000 visitors. The show will span over 850,000 square feet in exhibition space, which is divided into six themed “worlds” to help visitors maximize their time at the show. The six areas — residential pools, public pools, swimming pool technology, sauna and spa, private spa, and green living (natural ponds and the like) — will encompass all aspects of the pool, sauna and wellness markets.

At front and center is the newly named International Swimming Pool and Wellness Forum (previously known as the Cologne Swimming Pool and Wellness Forum), where attendees can avail themselves of information, ideas and practical tips as well as an outlook of the development of industry trends. Sample topics will include cross-border design trends and best practices, successful pool renovations, and architectural concepts. All lectures will be available in German and English by means of simultaneous translation.
