A fun new trend is taking root in U.S. backyards and it just might be something that imaginative builders can key into. Many folks are turning their sheds, which formerly stored lawnmowers and tools, into personal pubs.
You read right – people are converting boring sheds into mini-taverns for gatherings of friends and family. Often the pub-shed will sport a name over the door, such as The Dog House or Sam’s Surf Bar. Besides pub-house decor, it often contains beer on tap, a flat-screen TV, bar stools and the like. Even the surrounding area might get a landscape makeover, and the addition of a portable hot tub for guests who want to soak away the day’s stress.
The pub-shed trend started in Britain. In fact there’s a website called readersheds.co.uk, which hosts “Shed of the Year” contests showcasing some truly clever creations.
Not everyone has the craftsman skills to convert, or construct, a pub-shed. But pool builders whose backyard projects often include outdoor kitchens or pergolas that resemble cozy outdoor rooms might want to consider pub-sheds.
