The house features European classical architecture and rustic stone accents, so it was a natural step to give the hot tub environment an Old World feel. The designers built the spa turret out of the Kansas limestone that was already part of the original construction, artfully stacking the blocks to appear reminiscent of ancient castle walls.
That romantic sensibility is echoed by the six candle shelves inside the spa area, which cast a magical light on nighttime bathers. The cutout windows lining the curved wall provide additional lighting.
And there are modern touches to this project as well. The decking that surrounds the spa is made of synthetic wood for easy maintenance, and the designers installed speakers in the artisan tongue-and-groove ceiling.
