Sonoran Landesign Custom Pools takes outdoor living to the next level with this recent project completed for a Toll Brothers master-planned community in North Phoenix.

The space features all the bells and whistles and showcases the endless possibilities of design without looking too busy. The goal of the project — which came as a design challenge to the firm’s general manager, Travis McFarlin — was to create a space that marries the home’s modern interior and its traditional exterior without conflict.

“The house itself is a Spanish mission elevation, which is a mix of Spanish Colonial but with a contemporary and modern interior, and those two things usually don’t go together,” he explained. “My concern was to get that inside feel out into the backyard to make it cohesive without having a contrast with the traditional exterior of the home.”

To accomplish this, McFarlin’s team developed what he calls a “black and white theme” and used selective materials throughout to reflect the objective, including silver travertine pavers and Marmara marble with glass tile mosaic banding.
