Development of the 2015 edition of IAPMO's Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code is well underway.
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials sought proposals for alterations to the code. The suggested changes have been posted and are up for public comment, using the form and instructions on the website, until June 20 at 5:00 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time. Comments will be distributed and reviewed at meetings in October.
IAPMO's code was first developed in 1976. A model code, it can be adopted by states and localities at their own discretion. It is one of two major pool and spa model codes, the other being the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, a collaboration between the International Code Council and the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. The International Building Code, written by the ICC, also contains language affecting public pools and spas.
